Title:  Not so much stuffed and mounted as just left to rust
Description:  The IC diner was going to be a restoration project for the Dodge City Ford and Bucklin, a tourist line that ran part of the ex Rock Dodge City branch, and became a lost cause when they ran our of money. Dont know the heritage of the steamer.

The "Syracuse"
Title:  The "Syracuse"

Horizon car
Title:  Horizon car
Description:  Amtraks Horizon cars were patterned after the cars the EL acquired in the early 70s, as can be seen by their similarity to the EL cars appearance, such as this one in Kansas City.

Of all things
Title:  Of all things
Description:  Commuter coaches, especially if theyre in good shape, make good excursion train cars. Sometimes they roam far and wide after their initial careers in high density service. Imaging my surprise, however, at finding this ex LIRR P 72 on a siding in Llano Tex, of all places. It doesnt look like its going anywhere anytime soon, and its a long way from Ronkonkoma.

New cars
Title:  New cars
Description:  Every so often, Amtrak updates its equipment. Since I dont live near any Amtrak lines-Im about equal distance from Little Rock and Kansas City-I dont get to see the "new" stuff often. That, and my 64 year old mind still thinks of Amfleet, and even Heritage cars. So seeing the cars now running on Amtrak midwest is a treat. This car was on train 305 at Springfield.

Side view
Title:  Side view
Description:  A broadside view of one of the cars on train 305. The sun angle was dead on, so neither side was sunlit. You get the idea of the paint scheme, though.
