Album Info:This is a Juniata rebuilt GP38. Core unit were ex-FURX, exx-NS and nee-Southern. EMD c/n: 36063 frame: 7240-63 built: March 1970 ex-FURX 5578 exx-NS 5578 exxx-NS 2815 Juniata rebuild December 2003 nee-Southern 2815 Several GP38 locomotives were rebuilt as part of this group. Financed by First Union Rail and leased back to Norfolk Southern until 2013. Units upgraded to GP38-2 specifications; and including: new cab, nose, and control stand installed; original long hoods retained with some modification; air conditioner installed; DC generators replaced with AR10 alternators; extended range dynamic brake added to units that did not already have it. Long hood forward units changed to short hood forward. Fortunately for me, a MOW foreman and the Yardmaster(?) were by the yard trailer, and I asked for permission to take pictures. With a friendly "Sure, just drive down the yard access road and be careful!" I drove in.
