So as I was shooting the street running in Augusta GA this one idiot decided he didn't have to wait for the train to clear before parking his car at ST Paul Episcopal church. So to save him some time he pulls down this narrow stretch of sixth street where people are walking and there's a train going down the middle. With the train coming there is not enough room for him to squeeze between it and parked cars so he goes up the middle. The train is coming off the levee at about 5mph. The engineer is blowing the horn like crazy because even though he's going slow there's no way he can stop from hitting them. The car stops to make the turn but the people walking were slowing him down. As I turned for this shot the car had just turned off the tracks but is still too close to the train and can't move because of pedestrians. So this means if they try to move very fast now they hit the pedestrian but if they don't they get clipped by the train. They were lucky the train was going only 5mph or somebody would have got hurt. The Car was able to move just a few seconds before the train made it there. Pretty stupid because I don't think anybody would have taken that spot while the train was there, it really could have waited. |
