This scene no longer exists. After Conrail this former mainline was abandoned. The tracks just behind the crossing guard (the guy in the tee shirt) on the left are the current CN Chicago-Port Huron main (GT at this time). The double track main in the foreground is the EJE (now CN). PC (ex-NYC) had a single track route parallel to the "J" and the C&O diverted off the E-L just south of the complex crossing. The guard house has been moved from this location to the right and northeast quadrant of the intersection. Griffith is developing a modest rail history park on that site. |
