The kink in the track and the long ties indicate that we have left the former Adirondack Division Mainline and entered the Lake Placid branch. The the main line would have continued north from here to Malone, NY and eventually Montreal. That section was abandond in 1960 and the line became just a branch to Lake Placid that it is today. |
