At least this was only a training exerise. I saw the real thing while on strike duty with another person in the late 70's when a full tanker of gasoline was hit by a train operated by officials at night, running only with number boards lit on the crossing. Driver of tanker was not at fault, as he was part way over crossing when gates and lights started operating. Train stopped with locomotive just starting to go between loaded tanker and truck cab. No one was hurt, just scared the hell out of everyone, including some workers at the refinery only a few feet away.
