Shown here (R to F) are the skyline of downtown Manhattan, the northern abutment of the Whitestone Bridge, as well as the dog-leg entrance of the waters of Hell Gate. The ghostly forms of the two World Trade Center towers are discernable near the center. Photo taken while crossing the Hell Gate Bridge, which was opened on 28 March 1917. |
