NS ran two merchandise trains to CN at Montreal, 31T north and 30T south. This is 30T rolling through BX on its way to East Binghamton, where it will get a new crew to take it on to Enola. It could show any time, though afternoons were common. Sometimes if NS didnt have a rested crew, it would get stowed on track 4 at Binghamton til one was ready. Today's power is notable in that the leader is an ex CR SD 70 that was slated to go to NS when it was purchased. The second unit is one of the NW low nose SD40-2's acquired in the late 70's, and anomaly for NW, which had always specified high short hoods and long hood forward operation. |
