PRR 7050, EFS-17M, c. 1957
Here is the seventh of eight original photos that were taken by an unidentified photographer at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7050, #7113, and another "Geep" whose road number is not recorded. All are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7050 was constructed in October of 1956, while #7113 was built in May of 1957. They're pushing a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where they'll be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona. Also visible is PRR & Railway Express N-5 cabin car #5001.
