Coal Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) of a photo by Robert Wanner that was taken in Reading, Pennsylvania, in May of 1953. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1600, an E-6S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata during July of 1914 and retired in April of 1956 after 42 years of faithful service. Looks to me like it's takin' a spin on the ol' turntable! The road number of the Baldwin-built diesel at the right is not recorded. |
