Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 July 1952 ~ 68 years ago today! Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9493, an FF-16 built by Fairbanks-Morse in October of 1950, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in April of 1965 after just 15 years of revenue service. Along with several other diesel-electric units (not pictured), it's waiting for its next helper/pusher run up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin where they'll uncouple and return to the 7th Street Bridge area in Altoona and prepare for yet another run up "The Mountain."
