UP Passenger Special
Almost every Friday during the 1984 LOUISIANA WORLD EXPOSITION the Union Pacific ran a special passenger train from Houston to a siding at the fair site in New Orleans for special guests. The train ran from the ex-MP AVONDALE YARD to the fair over the New Orleans Public Belt, and here was one on the NOPB at Saint Andrew Street, with Tchoupitoulas Street on the right and the wharves along the Mississippi River on the left. This train had GP40-2 906 (ex-Western Pacific 3551) with a working GYRALITE, MP GP40 612 (ex-Rock Island 352), staff car CABARTON, sleeper OMAHA, lounge car 6203, and office car 102. The track in the foreground belonged to the Illinois Central Gulf and the other tracks belonged to the NOPB.
