Pouring antifreeze in the cog. On the way up we had two brakemen. Usually there is only one. We needed two so each one could hold a broom on the rail to clear the frost off the rail head. The white stuff is not snow, but frost. There was about 1/2 inch of it on the western face of the mountain we were climbing. |
