The 6,000 horsepower Diesel-electric locomotive will provide smooth-riding power all the way to Harrisburg, Pa., where a sleek electric locomotive will take over for the remaining 195 miles to New York." Shown here (R to L) is PRR engine #5901 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #5901 was constructed in September of 1945 and is presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
