ARA 111
The tender of A&A #18 is just visible behind the #111. The 2-8-0 continues to receive an extensive overhaul, but hopefully should be roaming the rails one day soon.

Adam Finger General Nice shot! I wonder if the lack of MU capabilities on the existing fleet was the reason for getting the new power 7/18/2023 10:23:18 PM
Nicholas Dixon General Yes, lack of M.U. capability is a major factor in purchasing the RS-3u. Reisdorf Brothers, the feed mill in North Java, has been regularly moving more carloads than a single one of the GEs can handle, resulting in the A&A having to pay two crews to make freight runs. There's also the fact that the parts support for those little GEs isn't the strongest, and they're getting up there in age. The #113 is in pretty great shape, but the #112 is pretty tired, and in fact, suffered some sort of mechanical ill on our charter that required idling one of the prime movers for half the run north and the entire run south. That being said, the centercabs aren't being retired, and will still haul freight when the trains are short enough that a single unit can handle it. 7/19/2023 11:02:47 AM
