C.S. Jackson General I ought to check that line out sometimes to see what's going on. 9/17/2006 4:09:47 PM
william davis General CN'S Yazoo Sub is definitely worth a visit. The Yazoo Sub is very easy & is fun to chase trains there in Mississippi. 9/18/2006 3:43:47 AM
C.S. Jackson General (A. I already have a DeLorme's Mississippi Atlas and Gazetteer (B. My Only memory is seeing trains on the Yazoo Sub at ages 5 or 6 and at age 13 (I tell you the rest later) 9/18/2006 11:35:38 PM
william davis General That's great C.S. Jackson, I wouldn't be without a DeLorme Atlas & Gazetteer, as they are of great assistance to get around at places where you may not be familiar with a certain area. 9/21/2006 6:24:04 PM
C.S. Jackson General I may go into the watermelon selling business next summer. If I can find a good spot to take pictures of trains in like say, Memphis, Tenn., Crenshaw, Miss., Olive Branch., Miss. Then, it's definitely worth a long shot. (in a place where some consider that people in the Bible Belt South don't have trains as a hobby.) 10/22/2006 8:01:58 PM
william davis General That's interesting & a good choice for the summer, as watermelons are a great summer treat, especially ice cold. I would definitely look at selling them trackside along a highway that parallels a rail line, so when you didn't have customers you could photograph trains 10/23/2006 10:49:41 PM
C.S. Jackson General I once said I was going into the watermelon business. I'm going to talk to my cousin to see If we could get him to sell watermelons in Crenshaw, Miss. Maybe that's worth it. 1/16/2007 7:28:23 PM
C.S. Jackson General I never understood what's the "W" sign for? 5/10/2007 10:07:03 PM
william davis General The W Sign is the whistle post for a crossing, which are usually placed about 1,500 ft. from a crossing. Engineers are to start blowing the airhorn at the W sign or whistle post & the rule for CSXT is 14L 2 Long blasts 1 short blast & 1 more long blast until you get the lead unit through the crossing. On the Southern Railway now NS they have signs that have 2 long black horizontal lines 1 black dot & another black horizontal line, which means 2 long blasts, 1 short blast & another long blast, which is the rule for all railroads for blowing at crossings 5/10/2007 10:46:02 PM
C.S. Jackson General I get your drift. CN has the "W" sign NS has the -----, -----, .O, -----. and CSXT has "14L" . I still got a lot more learning to do. 5/13/2007 12:10:56 AM
