Title:
MILW RS3 452
Description:
Milwaukee Road RS3 452 at Bensenville, Illinois on January 9, 1966, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 452 was built in December 1953 as road number 2477 (c/n 80581), renumbered around 1959 to 452. Sometime before May 1963 this locomotive and several other RS2's and RS3's exchanged their original road trucks for Blunt trucks that were on S2 switchers. The switchers now riding on road trucks were traded to EMD as credit on GP30's, and the Alco road trucks were removed, refurbished, and placed under the GP30's. The RS3's with Blunt trucks were hard riding in road service, but did not last very long, and were traded to EMD in 1968 for new power.
