Description:
Here is page two of a three-page article entitled "Pennsylvania Special." It was published originally in the April 1943 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 26. Partial Caption: "Compared with present-day trains, the 'Pennsylvania Special' was a lightweight: four wooden coaches pulled by fast-stepping Atlantics of Class E-2. Here it is New York-bound on the Chicago Terminal Division tracks, a short distance north of the Englewood station." Partially visible here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7373, an E-2B (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built by the American Locomotive Company during 1903, renumbered "9715" in July of 1913, and retired in October of 1935 after 32 years of service.
