Description:
Built by the Lima Locomotive Company in April of 1915, Illinois Central 2-8-2 Mikado #1732 was a solid addition to the hundreds of Mikados that IC had. In September of 1941, the loco was modified and renumbered to IC #1230. Having served the IC well for nearly 40 years, the loco met up with the scrapper's torch in 1955. Specs - 63" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine weight of 282,700 lb, tractive effort of 54,583 lb. No photographer, location or date was given for this photo so approximations were used.
